Katie Walter, Lexington MA

 

My name is Katie Walter, co-author of the cookbook "Some Like it Hot",  interned at America's Test Kitchen in Boston, and taught cooking classes for the past 4 years, first in my home in London and now in Lexington, MA as part of Two Aprons Cookery.  With Two Aprons Cookery, I teach monthly classes open to the public as well as customizable private classes for parties, groups of friends, corporate outings, etc.

My favorite food: Jamon iberico

Favorite food memory:  Ordering my favorite food, jamon iberico, in a tiny, dusty tapas bar tucked away on a side street in Barcelona and having them serve me a whole bowl of the stuff.  Heaven!!

Amazing ingredient and your favorite kitchen tool – I couldn’t live without olive oil.  From tossing vegetables in it and roasting them, to cooking scrambled eggs, dipping bread in it, drizzling over fresh tomatoes – it has so many uses!  Favorite kitchen tool is my Microplane zester.  Great for zesting citrus as well as grating Parmesan, nutmeg, or chocolate.
